HAs a pi zero and one for over 2 weeks now
I have followed 3 or 4 Gentoo Guides for the raspberry pi ,
they do not work
copied and pasted into a ash script
still not work.

I hve even just installed noobs but the stage 4 documentation is jumbled in with stage 3 cross compiling and other stuff.
Its not clear and not easy to follow . the pi quick install for gentoo does not work . Spent ages getting to qemu for that to have majot issues compiling after getting that work still no luck.
2 3 weeks i have been at this .
even with noobs i cant figure outhow to get a simple 32 bit install onto a sd card .
I can hammer a normal gentoo install this is so confusing and irratating .
The guides seem very small to a complete jumble.

I really want to use my new hardware and no luck .

Can someone please provide an image or walk me thru ot

Hi Gentobobbyuk.

"They do not work" might not be specific enough for anyone to help. What exactly doesn't work? How far do you get before you encounter problems, and what exactly are the problems that you encounter?

I guess if someone can post a working Pi Zero Gentoo image it won't matter as you could download that and start from there.

Gentobobbyuk,

Follow this guide. Follow the steps for a Pi1 as it has the same CPU as the Pi Zero.

When something goes wrong. Stop.
Tell which step failed in the guide failed.
Tell what you did.
Tell what happened.
Tell what you expected to happen.

We will ask for more information depending on what you report.

Looking at your page,
I see "emerge --ask sys-kernel/raspberrypi-image"

Which is not correct.
Is it not a combo of raspberrypi-firmware && raspberrypi-kernel now ??
psst: Looked at the Discussion page, but didn't see how to do it.

ShorTie,

What the SRC_URL contains and what the ebuild actually installs may be two different things.
Well, the ebuild may only install a subset of the fetched files.

I'll poke at problems when we have an install in progress. I better find my Pi1 and bits too. :)

Discussion pages are just ordinary wiki pages. Log in and edit away.

I know this is an old post but I've got a good working and new Gentoo image with a 5.10.11 working on a Pi 1 if you would like me to post an image somewhere for you.

Let me know.
