[SOLVED] Minecraft 1.17 / Java 16

Hello,

The most recent Minecraft version requires Java 16 else the game wont launch (you must use the launchers bundled Java). Before <1.17 I used Java 8 with dev-java/openjdk-jre-bin. Ive reviewed https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Java#The_choices however I cant seem to find Java version 16? Is this something new that's coming or am I missing something?

In portage tree there is no java:16, but you can try to install it from an overlay

Don't just download the dev-java/openjdk-bin-16.0.1_p9 ebuild. You'll also need to get "files/openjdk-bin-16.env.sh". You can browse to it.

It's working fine now.
