|
|
Hi.
Yesterday my desktop got frozen, so I had to use hard reset button, and now I can't boot into my KDE. xorg doesn't start. When I trying to startx manually X fails with the following message: parse_vt_settings cannot open /dev/tty0 (permission denied)
I read that it may be suid issue, but I can't startx neither as user nor as root. I tried to rebuild xorg-server with suid - no dice (built it back to -suid). As well I tried to rebuild nvidia driver (390.141 here). Still can't boot into DE.
My Xorg.0.log
and dmesg
dbus and elogind are started and running.
Any idea? Why it refuses to start? _________________ GNU is Not Usable

In order to avoid the dreaded hard shutdown in case of freezzes and kernel panics
ALWAYS
have
Code: |
sysrq_always_enabled=1 panic=20
|
in Linux line in /etc/default/grub.
Then when something like this happens you just press
Code: |
RIGHT-ALT+PRT_SC+REISUB
|
and you get it rebooting.
In case of kernel panic during boot it will auto reboot after 20 secs.
As for the rest [lease see

Solved by updating kernel and rebuilding nvidia driver against new kernel _________________ GNU is Not Usable |
