I updated from linux-5.4.97-gentoo to linux-5.10.27-gentoo on my laptop today using make olddefconfig. Everything seems fine except I have a ~60 second delay in dmesg before the iwlwif

When I boot in 5.4.97 there is no such delay. The same firmware is loaded in both kernels. It doesn't seem like it's the firmware though since dmesg says it was loaded around the 2 second mark.
Code: |
CONFIG_EXTRA_FIRMWARE="regulatory.db regulatory.db.p7s iwlwifi-8265-36.ucode ...." |
[/code]
I'm not really sure where to go from here on figuring out what's going on. Any ideas on things to check would be appreciated. |

You could try to emerge sys-kernel/gentoo-kernel:5.10.27 (or even sys-kernel/gentoo-kernel-bin:5.10.27) to rule out possible config option error.
Why do you need to load wifi firmware at so early stage of boot? Is that something you need at initramfs phase? _________________ ..: Zucca :..

I'll give this a whirl. Though it'll probably be tomorrow. I haven't done anything special to make it load the firmware then, it's just what happens. |
