|
|
Hello, I use a Lenovo M93p (yes, discontinued I know) which has two DisplayPort and one VGA output. I have a screen connected to each, so three screens in all. These are a 4K, a 2560x1600 and a 1080p VGA.
The problem is that the desktop or video hardware (not sure which) sees or presents these as one overall screen, with a depth of 2160 pixels. This has these consequences:
- a maximised window covers all three screens but is partly cut off by the lower resolution of the 2560x1600 and 1080p screens.
- The Cinnamon panel at the bottom of the screen is only visible on the 4K screen, since, again, the lower resolution of the other screens means that the panel is not visible on them.
There is no /etc/X11/xorg.conf or /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d on this machine.
This thread looks relevant but is quite old and seems to contain a lot of opinions rather than facts.
On my Lenovo W520 laptop (KDE), the three screens (one built-in, two external) are treated as separate so that the KDE panel appears on one screen only, and if a window be maximised, it occupies only one screen. Is it possible to make the M93p behave the same? or is it a difference between Cinnamon and KDE? _________________ Michael Mounteney

If xrandr shows each monitor on it's own, it really looks like fault (or setting) of the Cinnamon window manager. _________________ ..: Zucca :..

The correct answer is to rebuild with use flag xinerama. _________________ Michael Mounteney |

I looked trough all packages with "cinnamon" in the name, and only cinnamon-screensaver had that flag.
I would have otherwise recommended rebuilding. _________________ ..: Zucca :..
