|
|
my printer is: canon pixma mx320.
i am using simple-scan.
in the settings i chose: "All pages from feeder"
but when i start to scan, it is scanning just the first page (and it is scanned great).
the second page is inserted a little bit inside, then it is stopped and nothing happened afterwards.
the page is stuck and no scanning is going on.
i need to cancel the scanning using the keys on the printer to release the page and get him out. |

UPDATE:
in archlinux (same computer, triple boot (with windows)) simple scan, scan also the second page from the feeder without a problem.
so it seems something is wrong specific on gentoo.
what can it be? |

what SANE_BACKENDS do i need besides "pixma canon"?
i also added to the list canon_pp and canon_dr.
still the problem exist.
side note:
i'm using it through USB so no net configuration needed here and of course the usb kernel and usb use flag are "ON".
also scanimage -L give the right model:
Code: | scanimage -L
device `pixma:04A91736_1764DD' is a CANON Canon PIXMA MX320 multi-function peripheral |

WELL!
i downloaded VueScan in gentoo and now i can scan multiple documents from the feeder (with watermark).
so i think the problem is not with gentoo or the settings (of SANE for example).
in archlinux i have newer version of simple scan, so i'll wait for an update in gentoo . |

well, i'm now on simple scan version 40 (after upgrade to gnome 40) and the problem still exist as before.
can someone help me solve this?
what i know:
1. in arch linux (same computer, different boot) there is no problem. i can scan multiple pages from the feeder using simple-scan.
2. in gentoo (this computer) i can scan multiple pages from the feeder using VueScan.
3. in gentoo i can't scan multiple pages from the feeder using simple-scan.
and in "can't scan" i mean it is scanning the first one and insert the second one just a little inside and then stop and from there on, nothing is happening. |

What are the versions of all the relevant software (kernel, simple-scan, supporting libraries) in Arch and in Gentoo? If you boot the Arch kernel with the Gentoo userland, or vice versa, does the failure follow the kernel, follow the userland, or follow both? |

i don't know how to do this this thing.
"this thing" = boot the Arch kernel with the Gentoo userland (and vice versa).
about the libraries and software, i always keep both systems updated (i'm on gentoo testing).
i remember that simple scan version 3.38 worked good on archlinux when i tried that couple of months ago, so i think now in version 40, it also works good (didn't check but i assume it's OK).
i have the same kernel version (5.11.15) on both systems.
what supporting libraries do you want me to check?
thanks. |
