I have had trouble with this on freebsd. Does the minimal image have some kind of default screen resolution because i'm getting 800x600 on a full hd screen. On arch it automatically detected my screen res and i had 1920x1080... Is there a way to change that? |

Easiest way would be to boot Arch instead of Gentoo minimal. _________________ Life is a tragedy for those who feel and a comedy for those who think. |

What I meant but did not specify was the following. Can i fix that further down the road e.g. when the os is installed or is it going to be a persistent issue? |

This is Gentoo, you build your kernel, you configure your system, it is all you. Gentoo is only providing the tools to make it easy for you. It will be persistent if you make it persistent, and then again, you may choose not to. _________________ Life is a tragedy for those who feel and a comedy for those who think. |

gomeromer,
The minimal ISO is a toolset that is used to perform the install. None of its code goes into your install.
As its a toolset that needs to work on any system made in the last 20 years or so, I think its uses the VESA framebuffer driver.
That used ta have a 1280x1024 maximum resolution.
Two things to note. If you don't like the minimal ISO toolset. Use another one. It will not affect your install at all.
Gentoo is actually one big toolset. Its just the portage package manager and the ::gentoo repo.
You use all these tools to design and install your own distro.
Like Buffoon said, its all up to you. _________________ Regards,
