|
|
Hi everyone,
I was reading the UT2003 on linux topic and wanted to install the demo. However, as some other users, I got the following error:
Code: |
Xlib: extension "XiG-SUNDRY-NONSTANDARD" missing on display ":0.0".
OpenGL renderer relies on DXTC/S3TC support.
|
There were some suggestions to update the nvidia drivers, so I did. Another suggestion was to run "opengl-update nvidia", which I also did. The topic is getting rather crowded and cries for help get lost, so I thought I'd post a new thread, since it still doesnt work. Anybody know what I am doing wrong? The keyword "XiG-SUNDRY-NONSTANDARD" seems to come up only in one thread (UT2003 on linux).....
Btw, I have load "glx" in my XF86Config.
Thanks,
Anton. |

Hi,
i got the same message with missing XiG-SUNDRY. I updated world and ran opengl-update nvidia again. This solved my problems. Now i can play UT, woohoo.
I guess some libs have been too old. |

MIT-SCREEN-SAVER
MIT-SHM
MIT-SUNDRY-NONSTANDARD
NV-CONTROL
NV-GLX
NVIDIA-GLX
RENDER
SECURITY
SHAPE
SYNC

Somehow, I believe this XiG-SUNDRY-NONSTANDARD extension should get there... but how? |

Correct me I am wrong here but XiG (Xi Graphics) is a X server like Xfree86, so I would assume you wont have a XiG extension while you are running Xfree.... |

Ok, I am no gamer, and wanted to try this UT2003 thing. In the UT2003 on linux forum everyone was saying TNT2 support was unavailable.... As it turns out, my nvidia card is TNT2... Sorry everyone for the confusion. I thought that the TNT2 card was from ATI.... Guess that if I really want to try it out I'll have to buy me one of those GeForce cards
Once again, sorry for the confusion. I will be paying closer attention to the details (and my video cards) in the future ....
Thanks for the suggestions anyway.
Greetings,
Anton. |
