|
|
I have the snd-emu10k1 alsa modules, as well as the oss compatability modules loaded properly
in gnome2, the sound levels don't get restored on startup, they are always on the default levels (muted). How do i get the gnome mixer to remember the sound levels so i dont have to turn it up every time i turn the computer on? _________________ 95% of all computer errors occur between chair and keyboard (TM)

from your bug report, i get the impression that there is another way of restoring the sound levels on startup, not through the panel applet... _________________ 95% of all computer errors occur between chair and keyboard (TM)

I've got it to work with aumix...
Emerge aumix, then add this to local.start:
Code: |
# Master volume to 100%
aumix -v 100
# PCM device to 85%
aumix -w 85
|
Not that beautiful, but it works |

Shameless self promotion
You might want to try out a program that I wrote to replace Aumix, its called imaginatively Umix
Code: |
emerge media-sound/umix
|
And then add this to your local.start to load settings when booting:
Code: |
umix -f /etc/umixrc -L
|
And this to your local.stop to save settings when shutting down:
Code: |
umix -f /etc/umixrc -S
|
|

You can find them at /etc/conf.d/ if you have a recent enough baselayout installed. Otherwise you have to add them to /etc/init.d/local start() and stop() functions. |
