Once logged in with free account,
Code:
No internet connection detected...(error code:4)
top blue banner here.
I'm located out of the susbcription area, spotify-1.1.10-r1 working fine though.
EDIT: Like working version, no access to GUI settings to try to change proxy settings as advised elsewhere on the net.
EDIT: In console:
Code:
[0917/170459.154935:ERROR:buffer_manager.cc(488)] [.DisplayCompositor]GL ERROR :GL_INVALID_OPERATION : glBufferData: <- error from previous GL command
unsure if related... EDIT: working version has it too.
Any idea how to fix?

Thks 4 ur attention, interest & support.

Almost the same with latest spotify-1.1.42:
Console error replaced by:
Code:
WARNING: Kernel has no file descriptor comparison support
Would have been better if ebuild had been warning about that missing kernel feature, although I'm unsure whether ebuild stack is able to test kernel config or not...
Same top blue banner...
Thks 4 ur attention, interest & support.

An ebuild can test for whether the configured kernel, which may not be the running kernel, has a given feature. It's possible that the maintainer installed Spotify on a system where this check succeeded, and so the maintainer was unaware of the requirement. You could file a bug to request this check be added. The maintainer will need the name of the Kconfig symbol which controls this functionality.

Thks.
Any example??? Hum, let me elaborate:
Code:
eselect kernel set kernel-to-test
to set the context then in ebuild
Code:
pkg_setup(){
        CONFIG_CHECK="~KERNEL_SETTING_X ~KERNEL_SETTING_Y"
        check_extra_config
        ...
}

Well, my password has recently been reset, a little too uncomfy to handle by now.

For a WARNING which fix isn't expected to solve the OP problem?
Alternatively, you could inform him to read that post.
Search engines are so powerful these days.

In your second post, you wished for an ebuild warning to advise the user to configure the kernel in a way that Spotify would not warn. I described how to get such an ebuild warning added. Even if it doesn't solve the original problem (although your post now says that doesn't help, I don't recall seeing that note present when I posted earlier), it might still be worthwhile just to avoid people posting asking about the warning from spotify.
