Hello.
I noticed after my last emerge --world that java webstart is now masked. Does this mean that there is a replacement for it? I cannot live without this, as I administer many systems, and do remote desktop assistance, that relies upon this technology.
For now, as much as I don't like to do it, I unmasked it. But is there plan to replace this?
Thanks.

Mask messages normally describe the plans for the package, whether the mask is for compatibility, security, or deprecation. OP: what message was printed for the package about which you are asking? |

Hi.
It is dev-java/icedtea-web. I didn't read far enough, I guess,.it said that it was for security reasons and "This package won't be going away soon". I never knew that they would mask things short-term for security reasons, so I guess I stopped reading after the first few lines. My bad.
That is a relief! I guess I just sit tight then.
Thanks.
