Easy question(I hope).

Can anyone point me to a newbie oriented explanation on how I would install xfree86 from the xfree cvs depository? I have a basic understanding of cvs, but xfree seems a bit more complex that the simple apps I usually use cvs to grab. I also am a bit confused how it the install from cvs would interfere with the portage system. Is it possible to set up an ebuild to pull from the xfree cvs depository?

Ok, the question ended up more complicated than I expected. 8O

I don't know much about CVS myself, but have you checked the Gentoo CVS Tutorial? Hopefully that will at least point you in the right direction.

pretty much just:

get xc from cvs
edit config/cf/host.def
make World |& tee World.log
make install
make install.man

for more info try http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=xc+make+World&btnG=Google+Search

have fun.
