Thousands of Israeli arabs protested against proposed land swaps with Palestinian autonomy, that could result with them becoming palestinian citizens (and that after we all thought Israel is bad for arabs, Palestine is good for everybody).
An observing eye could see what flags they waived

It just makes me laugh so hard. Super rich British guy decides the trashy people can sleep in trash bins, which he will manufacture for a profit.

I think I have the raw materials to start a scented candle business (industry to be honest) if anyone has press contacts and wants some stock.

Split from "Culture & Society 2019".

Obligatory content: CNN attempts insightful commentary on Rush Limbaugh's analysis of the electability of a gay candidate for President: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVl8J0Xf5L0.

Spoiler alert: they fail.

Buttigieg will cost the democrats a large enough percentage of the black vote to make a loss inevitable. Sanders will probably get the nomination, but he will be wiped out in the general like Mondale was. The only person who is a threat in the general election is Tulsi, but the DNC is so stupid that they call her a Russian agent and blackball her.

Trump's got his reelection locked in.

Not only did they fail, but once again, they were intentionally taking it out of context. When I listened regularly for part of the show during the 90s, I heard most of the out-of-context misrepresentations that were reported by CNN, et. al. Sometimes people who have never listed to the show would quote transcripts, ignore tone, sarcasm, context and whether or not he was making a joke.

I haven't heard all of the audio, but it seems obvious even in what they played that it was analysis, not an attack.
CNN's Setup wrote:
This, after conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh, attacked [I forget how he referred to Mr. B.]

Bold added to emphasize the audio they did not play. And I didn't include a lot of analysis (probably more than is below) which includes more on Mr. B. as well as other candidates:
Quote:
Then they’re sitting there and they’re looking at Mayor Pete — a 37-year-old gay guy, mayor of South Bend, loves to kiss his husband on the debate stage — and they’re saying, “Okay. How’s this gonna look, a 37-year-old gay guy kissing his husband on stage next to Mr. Man, Donald Trump? What’s gonna happen there?”

They gotta be looking at that, and they’ve gotta be saying that despite all the great progress and despite all the great wokeness and despite all the great ground that’s been covered, America’s still not ready to elect a gay guy kissing his husband on the debate stage president. They have to be saying this, don’t they? Now, there may be some Democrats who think that is the ticket.

There may be some Democrats who think, “That’s exactly what we need to do, Rush. Get a gay guy kissing his husband on stage! You ram it down Trump’s throat and beat him in the general election.” (laughing) Really? Having fun envisioning that. What are you left with? Crazy Bernie. They’re left with the avowed revolutionary socialist who isn’t even a Democrat.

So which of those three…? They want to take all three out. They would like to get rid of all three of those, the establishment of the Democrats. But if they can’t, which of those three would they rather lose with? Who among those three losing will do the least damage to the Democrat Party going forward? That’s what they are facing, if you ask me.
It is obvious to anyone that he was not attacking Mr. B. Notice that CNN didn't take the approach that Rush's analysis was wrong. I guess they weren't expecting that last guest. I wonder if he'll be back.

I feel bad for Ted Turner having to see what CNN has become (he has commented on being disappointed, though I don't recall when that occurred).

Adding this because I found it funny:
Quote:
RUSH: Snerdley has been ticked off at me for making that observation nearly a year ago, because Snerdley believes had I not made the observation, a lot of people would not have given Mayor Pete Buttigieg the time of day. But just to illustrate. Now, Mayor Pete is, like every other leftist Democrat in this whole roster, a fraud in the sense that he’s trying to cover up the fact that he is a radical leftist.
One analysis (I don't recall the source) is that Mr. B. would make Obama look like a conservative. Although I don't think that was the word used. But I don't think it was centrist either. *shrug*

EDIT: Forgot to include source. Trigger warning: here be opinions.

Yeah. That sounds like a familiar affirmation I heard in 2016. If it isn't a landslide, it's not going away. Even if it is, I'm not convinced people will continue to pay enough attention. In the plus column, the Democrat Party doesn't seem to want the extremists either (even if only because they don't think they can win).

What? Is there something you see elsewhere? I would be befuddled. Like 'what just happen?'

Regarding the presidency of US of A. Trump is just the only option. ...as usual I am mixing the topic of different threads and opinions up a little. Sry.

It fascinates me, the euro-americans have a fetich for europe.

Why? They are multi-cultural. Everything should be great!

I am somewhat less certain of that.

I could have agreed with that, until I was regaled by a Gabbard ad where she essentially stated that she would pay for "healthcare for anyone who wants it" by "ending these wasteful wars with Iran". I realize that low information voters are indeed a thing, but there are limits.

Enough people keep making that claim that it could well be undermining its own plausibility.

pjp wrote:

Sure, they were bad enough at it that they left enough context in their own "reporting" to make it abundantly clear that they were not actually responding to what he said, they were reacting to what they wanted people to think he had said. Evidently, CNN decided that if they were going to do shoddy reporting, they were not going to settle for half measures.

And your right to buy a large soda, have a smoke with a friend, or just wanting to live in any way that little Mikey doesn't approve. Bloomberg is a full on authoritarian willing to use the powers of the state to take your rights away.

He won't get the nomination, let alone win the general.

Careful, he has money. He can run a campaign to drown all that with noise and promises to "get it done." He certainly can make a play for it.

Personally I think he is running interference to keep Sanders from getting the nomination. Once that goal is done the convention can give it to Hillary or Buttigieg. But Bloomburg can absolutely run.
