Hello
Im trying to build Anjuta.
I went straight on Gnome 2.0, and skipped building Gnome 1.x.
When trying to build Anjuta, I must build libglademm 1.3.1.
This in turn requires gtkmm-2.0.
And, the problem is how to build this package.
It does not appear to be portage avaiable in my system.
Maybe build it outside portage?
Or bugreport, or maybe try to write a portage file myself for gtkmm-2.0.
How to go about?

Thanks,
Claes

In order to build gtkmm-2.0, you need to manually emerge gtkmm-1.3.18.ebuild from the folder /usr/portage/x11-libs. There may be other dependencies that I'm not aware of, but this will get you past gtkmm-2.0.

As a side note, I do realize the numbering of gtkmm-2.0 is actually a lesser build number, but don't worry, I've built it myself and it is gtkmm-2.0. Also, if it's referred to as gtkmm (as opposed to gtk--), that is the gnome2 compliant package. gtk-- is the original name (for gnome 1.x builds) and gtkmm is the new name (for gnome2 builds). At least, that's what I understand it to be, maybe wrong.

Hth!

p.s. the url for the gtkmm package is http://www.gtkmm.org

Thanks,
I'll try that when I get home.
Not an obvious version name for gtkmm 2.0. But its like Java 2 and
java 1.4 jre.
Anyway, I'm so glad I finally got away from using red hat.
In red hat everything was hidden, and it was difficult to find information
about configurations and start up scripts. (the dark side clouds everything).

Also, I really appreciate forums without flamewars and with grown up
participants. Keep it up!

I was trying to emerge gcvs, and got the same error: couldn't find gtkmm-2.0.pc.

I emerged gtkmm-1.3.18 manually, and subsequently the file gtkmm-2.0.pc was there.

gcvs is emerging as I type this.

Great support ! :P
