|
|
i recently upgraded/merged some new libraries and stuff, and now when i run java eDonkey, it freezes my system completely! i don't mind rebooting(thank god for journaling), but this is really annoying to see my system freeze like that.
at this point, i have no idea whether it's java, glibc, gcc, or something else. i know it's not edonkey cause it runs fine by itself. it's whenever i run the java gui client. it used to work just fine until my recent 'emerge update system'
how can i figure out what's causing my system freezes? since it freezes the entire machine, i don't think i can get anything useful out of logs..
thanks in advance,
athlon 1.4
glibc 2.2.5-r6
gcc 2.95.3-r7
linux-2.4.19-gentoo-r7 |

You can try turning on the Magic SysRq key in your kernel configuration. While I'm here, and I notice you're running 2.4.19-gentoo-r7, you might want to see if your problems persist even with a vanilla 2.4.18 or 2.4.19. _________________ For every higher wall, there is a taller ladder |
