Thank you for helping

Code:

dev-python/fonttools-4.0.1 has removed python_targets_python2_7 but this targets is needed by dev-python/booleanOperations, dev-python/nototools and dev-python/defcon packages.
You have two solution
  • try to remove python_targets_python2_7 to three packages
  • mask dev-python/fonttools-4.0.1 version

I feel that the safer option is to mask fonttools.

Thank you

I had the same problem as fedeliallalinea and I had to remove noto-emoji and its dependencies booleanOperations, defcon, nototools, and ufoLib, to prevent this dependency issue.

There is no problem here. Portage skips an upgrade until you can actually do the upgrade, it does not block you from doing unrelated upgrades.

In fact, the only package requiring python2_7 here seems to be dev-python/nototools. Would I want to install this package, then portage correctly warns me to select python2_7 for it and dev-python/fonttools-3.44.0 is being pulled in. This is on an ~arch system, even.

You are right, emerging dev-python/nototools offers in the correct version and does not give any dependency conflict message. However, emerging media-fonts/noto-emoji (which depends on nototools and its dependencies) shows the dependency conflict message.

OP, do you have media-fonts/noto-emoji installed? Or are you using another package which has the same or similar dependencies?

Also, as a temporary workaround, you can install noto-emoji-bin from jorgicio's overlay.

This works for me. Thanks so much! :D
