Hi all,
I never set up a printer before in Linux, so I think I need a little advice. After merging CUPS and its dependencies, I started it via /etc/init.d/cupsd (and it worked).
Then, I loaded some modules (parport, parport_pc, lp). After that, I connectet to "localhost:631" and got the CUPS config-page.
But when I set up a printer (Parallel Port #1, HP ...) and try to print a test page I only get a "client-error-not-found".
What did I wrong or what else I have to do?
Greetings, Matthias |

Sounds like the same problem I'm having.
I've got a Canon BJC-3000, attached by USB. Communication with the printer works but any jobs I sent through CUPS just get cancelled.
The log in /var/log/cups/error_log reports:
Code: | Unable to convert file 0 to printable format for job 7! |

Try emerging ghostscript, after I emerged Ghostscript 7.05.3-r1 it worked, before I had exactly the same problem _________________ --

In the end I downloaded the full Foomatic distribution from:http://www.linuxprinting.org. It set up everything for CUPS for me.
