portage update removed sys-fs/eudev and installed sys-fs/udev.
no systemd here.
Just sure what the implication may be... fear to reboot though.
Code:
emerge eudev

These are the packages that would be merged, in reverse order:

Calculating dependencies  ... done!
[ebuild  N     ] sys-fs/eudev-3.2.5  USE="hwdb -introspection kmod -rule-generator (-selinux) -static-libs -test" ABI_X86="-32 (64) (-x32)"
[blocks B      ] sys-fs/udev ("sys-fs/udev" is blocking sys-fs/eudev-3.2.5)

 * Error: The above package list contains packages which cannot be
 * installed at the same time on the same system.

  (sys-fs/udev-242:0/0::gentoo, installed) pulled in by

  (sys-fs/eudev-3.2.5:0/0::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) pulled in by
    eudev
    >=sys-fs/eudev-2.1.1 required by (virtual/udev-217:0/0::gentoo, installed)
Any advice?

Thks 4 ur attention.

Add udev to package.mask and remove it with emerge -C
Then emerge -1 eudev. The next update should be okay.

We already have a discussion on that topic here with three proposed workarounds.
It basically comes down to the last two commits for virtual/libudev.

Ok. :)
Although I'm unsure what a reboot without eudev would have caused,
can't stop thinking such situation kinda suck. :evil:
Thks 4 ur attention, interest & support.

Moved from Portage & Programming to Duplicate Threads in favour of Blocked package? sys-fs/udev is blocking sys-fs/eudev-3.2.5.
