Hi all,
I upgraded to XFCE4-1.14 today and discovered than the font rendering is really poor compared to 1.12. It affects to all apps, including java applications, QT, chromium, etc...
The system and user configuration is the same than before.
Here is some info:

I have:
xfce-base/xfce4-meta-4.14-r1::gentoo USE="svg -minimal -upower"
and fonts look nice as before.
I do not use infinality nor lcdfilter.

I rollbacked to xfce4-1.12. Anyway, is infinality obsolete? _________________ Nobody fucks with The Jesus |

Finally, I updated to 4.14 (4.12 is no longer in portage ) and the problem persist. I readed a lot about problems on font rendering in Gnome3 and looks like GKT3 is ignoring the "fine tuning" that infinality provide. I appreciate a lot the efforts of the developers to keep XFCE alive and up to date, but in this sense it is a step back. _________________ Nobody fucks with The Jesus |

Solved!
My user directory had many years of use, settings, hacks and all those things that accumulate over time. After discovering that in a new test account the font rendering was correct, I created a new user account and moved the relevant data. There was something (that I can't specify) that was causing the problem.
Thanks and sorry. It was my fault. _________________ Nobody fucks with The Jesus |
