I know steam works with other games and not working with This War Of Mine. I have no idea where to look to try and troubleshoot this.

Why are you trying to relink the game? I thought this was a proprietary game.

What is printed to stdout/stderr when the game fails to start? We need to know whether the dynamic linker is aborting due to missing libraries or if the game is terminating itself.

Start Steam from terminal by typing 'steam', then launch the game and when the game crashes look at the terminal and see what it says.
