Hi guys
What exactly do i need to have some nice splashscreen at bootup, instead of an annoying menu?
I followed the installation instructions and all worked very well (so far), only grub doesn't display the splachscreen. |

I had the same 'problem' too installing a stage 1 system. After that I tried a stage 3 and there it was, a splashcreen.
But I guess you can use any picture as long as it has the right dimension (640x480, I think) and name it just like it says in your /boot/grub/menu.lst Remember to mount /dev/hda? to /boot before copying the graphics file to that place. Here ? is the number of the partition that hold the 'boot-sector'. If you followed the instructions exactly, it should be /dev/hda1
Hope this solves your problem. _________________ tap = hijskraan |

Do a quick search on these forums for the terms xpm grub and possibly gimp. Should give you plenty information on creating such images. |

I made mine with the Gimp, after making the pciture you like go to
image->mode->index, use 14 colors. Then save as xpm. gzip, copy to
/boot/grub (or overwrite the original, whatever strikes your fancy).
Update /boot/grub/menu.lst to point to the new file, and voila (at reboot). |
