Like my brother in law (wife's brother). He got ripped drunk when he was like 25 or so in Yokohama, missed his train back to Hiratsuka, and woke up the next morning sleeping on cardboard with a pissed off homeless man staring at him. He had slept on that guy's cardboard. Being a gentleman, he gave they guy a few thousand yen and apologized.

When he told me about this, I was at a family dinner with his parents, my wife, their cousins/aunts/uncles... his mom was pissed that he was sharing that anecdote.
i understand his mom but it would be a pity not to share this story :)

due to geographic limitations it is easier for me to buy a Russian vodka than one from Texas...

Sround $30 - $35 for 750ml. Russian Standard is about the same price.

Absolute is about $25 for 1.5 liters & Svedka is $20 for 1.5 liters.

yes the 1,5l packages are reasonable. I buy that kind of amounts or maybe more when doing liguere (Sambucus nigra will blossom soon ). Otherwise i drink just beer lately.

My sake tolerance is increasing. Next time I drink, I'm going to consume 1.5 L.

According to common Japanese culture, what is a manly 日本人 supposed to be able to consume, anyway? Because that is my goal!

EDIT: *hic*

Well, more than me. I'm 6'2", and around 190 lbs. My father in law is 5'4" and pretty thin. He could drink me under the table, easily. I have 4 beers, I'm fine. He can finish more than a case.

So, I'm not sure what the secret is with the Japanese, but they can pound liquor.

*caugh* got a friend on Titos. looks like it is in the country. need some more research. Maybe i will taste it.
---
got an observation to share. i went to an outdoor event where they promised to have beer. but i did put some beer in my backpack anyway. my decision was correct 3 times:

1. the beer they served sucked. mine was better.
2. the price for their beer was 2.5 times higher.
3. i did not have to line up and wait 10-15 minutes until i get my beer. i just grabbed one from the backpack.

Okay, what the hell's going on around here...

Rukia in Ichigo's wardrobe | Bleach (2018) Movie Clip

I was never able to understand anything that was said except for Isshin saying, "Konichiwa!" Now I can clearly hear Rukia saying, "Watashi-no namae-do."

Why does drinking sake help me understand spoken Japanese better? It should be the opposite...

Have you heard of Drunken Monkey? Seriously though, it's probably the part where it makes you mellow out a bit.
