same error as reported for firefox 58 at
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1076166-highlight-devilry.html
that is, during the build:
Code: | UnicodeEncodeError: 'ascii' codec can't encode characters in position 135-137: ordinal not in range(128) |
the build actually completes and firefox can be installed via the workaround in my previous post
just FYI and if anyone knows why this happens and the permanent fix I'd appreciate the solution _________________ .... there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth

I would guess that the problem is locales being set to utf-8 (or something even more strange). I would try to set them to C. |

Hi all,
The same problem showed up just this moment while upgrading my laptop to www-client/firefox-60.5.0
changing to de_DE.utf8 or C does not help anything at all. _________________ Running GENTOO since 2004 |
