I do
Code:
emerge --update --newuse --deep --with-bdeps=y @world

and get
Code:
 * The following 2 packages have failed to build, install, or execute
 * postinst:
 *
 *  (app-eselect/eselect-java-0.4.0:0/0::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge)
 *  (media-gfx/imagemagick-7.0.8.25:0/7.0.8.25::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge)

For some reason, portage can't fetch these packages. I could fix media-gfx/imagemagick by installing an earlier version. However, app-eselect/eselect-java has only one version available, so I'm completely stuck. Anybody had seen this problem?

Many thanks.

You can post your make.conf? What you set in GENTOO_MIRRORS?

I don't see these server in official gentoo source mirrors list.
Try to change it with one of the list

Apparently the snapshot is only available as.tar.gz and .tar.bz2 on the original site while the ebuild requests a .tar.xz. You should file a bugreport about that.

All,

Thanks for your input! fedeliallalinea, I switched to an approved mirror, and it solved everything. Thank you so much! I hope everybody checks and makes sure they aren't using a bogus mirror by accident.
