|
|
According to the wine page, the lovely little game Gorogoa has a platinum rating. I got it when it came out, and back then it ran fine.
Now, however, when I do 'wine Gorogoa.exe' in that game's program directory, I get the following error:
Code: | Error: could not find JavaSE Runtime Environment |
and in the console:
Code: | $ Error opening registry key 'Software\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment'
Error: could not find java.dll
|
The version of the JRE in the portage tree is a no-longer-supported jre9, and requires registration with Oracle to download. I have the oracle-jdk-bin package already installed. Is there some other thing I need to do here to get this working again?
Thanks for the help,

i'd say try to get the steam version working with wine-3.11-staging, but its 15 bucks to unlock it on steam https://store.steampowered.com/app/557600/Gorogoa/
i've noticed that sometimes for some games, i can't get the standalone version to work while for whatever reason, i can get it to work with wine+steam
you also now probably have the potential to use steam-proton if your gpu supports vulkan.
but i'm honestly not sure if that JRE error will carry over or not. |

Is there a way to configure icedtea to support older JREs? This isn't even that old an application.
Thanks for the help,

It's unlikely that installing an old JRE in Gentoo would help a wine app to work. Install Java in wine. |

Is there no way to get legacy Windows JREs besides signing up with Oracle? |
