Note for polaris users starting with (git-kernel) kernel-4.20.0-rc6.

As of this kernel version, the patch "Update MC firmware for polaris" is included. This patch will request a "polaris10_k_mc.bin". (or *11_k_mc.bin, *12_k_mc.bin).
These *.bin are not yet included in the Linux firmware. The system don't initialize the GPU and X don't start. In dmesg this message appears:
"mc: firmware could not be loaded "amdgpu/polaris11_k_mc.bin"

You can find this *.bin here and copy it to /lib/firmware/amdgpu.

Paste this in "CONFIG_EXTRA_FIRMWARE=" and the system starts without problems.
