I have app-emulation/vmware-player-12.5.9.7535481 installed from the vmware overlay. It currently has my windows 7 virtual machine which I really like having around.
The log complains that Code: | 2018-11-22T12:07:34.699-08:00| appLoader| I125: Using system version of glib.

Anyone know how to get this working again? _________________ First things first, but not necessarily in that order.
Apologies if I take a while to respond. I'm currently working on the dematerialization circuit for my blue box. |

I read that to say that it is using a bundled gdkmm, then loading a system pangomm to support the bundled gdkmm, then failing to find Glib::Object::Object(Glib::Object&&) as a defined symbol. From the name, that symbol probably comes from glibmm. The bundled glibmm is too old, or is configured incorrectly, to support the system pangomm. You cannot mix the bundled glibmm with the system pangomm, at least in this case. Disable use of the bundled glibmm, or update to a bundled glibmm that provides the required symbol. |

Forcing it to use its boundled libs gets past that error and to one with libfontconfig.so.1, so this may be a lost cause. Investigating 12 is really old and 15 is current, so it seems that vmware hasn't been getting any love these days _________________ First things first, but not necessarily in that order.

I use the VMplayer from stefantalpalaru's overlay : app-emulation/vmware-workstation-15.0.1.10737736::stefantalpalaru
Maybe try that? _________________ "You can lead a horticulture but you can't make her think" ~ Dorothy Parker
