|
|
I've just installed Gentoo. I'm trying to install xfce dektop
Code: | emerge --ask xfce-base/xfce4-meta xfce-extra/xfce4-notifyd
....
* IMPORTANT: 2 config files in '/etc/portage' need updating.
* See the CONFIGURATION FILES and CONFIGURATION FILES UPDATE TOOLS
* sections of the emerge man page to learn how to update config files. |
I've read emerge man page. Is it a healthy way to solve this problem by setting CONFIG_PROTECT="-*" in make.conf? I suppose it's like breaking Gentoo's immun system, isn't it? What should I do?

Quote: | Edit /etc/dispatch-conf.conf first and create the directory referenced by the archive-dir variable |
How can I do? |

hcyildiran, I use etc-update instead of dispatch-conf.
etc-update shows the difference between original file and update file. After that, you can decide what to do:
Code: | 1) Replace original with update
2) Delete update, keeping original as is
3) Interactively merge original with update
4) Show differences again |

I solved the problem by etc-update-I hope I made true decision-. And was continuing:to install:
Code: | * Fetch failed for 'sys-devel/autoconf-archive-2018.03.13', Log file:
* '/var/tmp/portage/sys-devel/autoconf-archive-2018.03.13/temp/build.log' |
what is the solution?

Hello hcyildiran,
With that little information its kinda hard to see where could be the issue. Please post your emerge --info and the build log (you can get the commands when emerge fails) so we can see where's the issue. |
