A new HW (Intel Xeon E5-1650V3) does not boot - seems to hang either in grub step or in an early boot phase - because no log messages are in /var/log.
There was no problem in setting up an hardened Gentoo at an i7-3930 2 years ago.
The problem is the kernel config, something either with "x2apic is defined in BIOS but the kernel can't enable it" or with the TIMER/LAPIC.

Does anybody has a recent kernel config which is known to work ?
