|
|
Good morning everyone.
On my desktop computer with an Intel Core i5-3570k with 4 cores, when running cpupower frequency-info I can see, among the other things, the boost state frequencies. In fact, I can see something like 3.80 GHz for 1 core, 3.70 GHz for 2 cores, 3.60 GHz for 3 or 4 cores.
When I run it on my notebook, however, I only get the following: Code: | analyzing CPU 0:
driver: intel_pstate
CPUs which run at the same hardware frequency: 0
CPUs which need to have their frequency coordinated by software: 0
maximum transition latency: Cannot determine or is not supported.
hardware limits: 400 MHz - 4.00 GHz
available cpufreq governors: performance powersave
current policy: frequency should be within 400 MHz and 4.00 GHz.
The governor "powersave" may decide which speed to use
within this range.
current CPU frequency: Unable to call hardware
current CPU frequency: 988 MHz (asserted by call to kernel)
boost state support:
Supported: yes
Active: yes

- It says the boost is both supported and active (in fact I can see that the frequencies vary according to the need), however the frequencies are not listed here. Any idea why?
- It also says the frequency range goes from 400 up to 4000 MHz, however the minimum I saw so far is 700 MHz (right now while I am writing this, I check it through CPU frequency monitor embedded in my Xfce desktop panel and through cpu-power itself
). Is this normal as well? _________________ Desktop: Gigabyte X670E Aorus Master - 7950X3D - 2x16 GB - Sapphire RX 7900XTX Vapor-X - 1 TB MP700 - be quiet! 800 FX - Samsung Odyssey Ark 55"

i have no frequencies too
Code: | LC_ALL=C cpupower frequency-info
analyzing CPU 0:
driver: intel_pstate
CPUs which run at the same hardware frequency: 0
CPUs which need to have their frequency coordinated by software: 0
maximum transition latency: Cannot determine or is not supported.
hardware limits: 800 MHz - 4.40 GHz
available cpufreq governors: performance powersave
current policy: frequency should be within 800 MHz and 4.40 GHz.
The governor "performance" may decide which speed to use
within this range.
current CPU frequency: Unable to call hardware
current CPU frequency: 4.01 GHz (asserted by call to kernel)
boost state support:
Supported: yes
Active: yes

if you want turbo freq, i7z can give you that
Code: | Max TURBO Multiplier (if Enabled) with 1/2/3/4 Cores is 44x/44x/44x/44x
|
for your second question, no real answer, but a logical one would be that 400mhz might be too low to run your system, and with its needs, 700mhz is the minimum ; you might lower your system need to see (no gui per example). |
