Hello,

There is something I don't understand in gentoo instalations.
Seems that during my packages installation, a previos unrelated package was uninstalled somehow and I needed to install it again.
I am probably missing something...
How should I notice that a package is unstalled bacause of new unrelated package install? Is it issue of use flags? Is thete any notification ?

Thank you
Ranran

Hard to say with the limited info you've given.

Which package was installed, which was uninstalled. (include version numbers too)

Hi

tigervnce server was removed. I has only the regular version(client) without the vncserver utility after making many package installation.
I can't tell which of those many package is responsible because I noticed it after a lot of installation were made.

any other vnc's installed?

ie
Code:
    !net-misc/tightvnc
    !net-misc/vnc
    !net-misc/xf4vnc

if not any of the above, I'm not sure without seeing what was installed.

Well, the above supposes that you did regular emerge of tigervnc vs it being pulled in by some other package
OR it was removed from your world file somehow.

Edit to add: what does "emerge -pv tigervnc" return?
