|
|
Just ran into a build issue on =sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-4.17.15
(4.17.12 compiled fine with nearly the same .config; I was just switching on/off the AMD DC code)
Code: |
ERROR: "l1tf_vmx_mitigation" [arch/x86/kvm/kvm.ko] undefined!
|
plus followups and misc. warnings
Code: | make[1]: *** [scripts/Makefile.modpost:92: __modpost] Error 1
make: *** [Makefile:1279: modules] Error 2
make: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs.... |
...
Code: | ld: arch/x86/boot/compressed/head_64.o: warning: relocation in read-only section `.head.text'
ld: warning: creating a DT_TEXTREL in object. |
Might be relatively new, Guenter Roeck posted something here:
https://lkml.org/lkml/2018/8/14/1023
https://lkml.org/lkml/2018/8/15/288
I haven't tried yet without AMD KVM entirely or with additional intel KVM enabled, but I shall do so asap.

Had the same error, but with kernel 4.18.1. It got fixed in 4.18.1-r1.
EDIT:
Sorry, I didn't look properly...
My old genkernel log got overwritten, so I can't look it up. The error I had looked very similar but it is probably not related. |

I just tested compile with
CONFIG_KVM_INTEL=m
(had all the KVM stuff modular, so...)
and it worked. Well, it compiled, didn't test the new kernel yet but I guess it might run. It might just be that you need the additional CONFIG_KVM_INTEL switched on if you want to use CONFIG_KVM_AMD for the time being until this is fixed.
So this seems to be kind of a workaround. _________________ stop tcpa, swpatents, corrupt politicians and other scary stuff |

I can confirm that it seems to work without the above workaround with =sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-4.18.3. _________________ stop tcpa, swpatents, corrupt politicians and other scary stuff |
