|
|
Hello,
I have tried to launch Abaqus on my computer, which says does not work because I need the libstdc++.so.5 library. In order to get this library I believe I need the libstdc++-v3 package, which unfortunately fails to emerge and I am not sure why. I have checked the forums and found two older posts from 2009 (https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-738002-start-0.html and https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-737720.html), but they are out of date (the solutions seem to be wait for an update and the bug will be fixed or try an older version, which I have not been able to find or emerge). I've checked my system (as well as the gcc-complier) for updates and everything seems to be in order. The build log is too large to post here or in pastebin, but I have posted below some outputs that the error code recommended I post. I can also post my fstab file, which more experienced gentoo users have informed me is a little odd. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Edit: Figured out how to post the build log through wgetpaste (thanks to fedeliallalinea for letting me know that existed)

You can post also full build.log with wgetpaste? _________________ Questions are guaranteed in life; Answers aren't. |

Hi, this is probably Bug 654818
You can try the tip from https://bugs.gentoo.org/654818#c14
Example: Code: | emerge -av binutils:2.29.1
eselect binutils set x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-2.29.1
. /etc/profile
emerge -av1 sys-libs/libstdc++-v3 | It builds here successful.
But please remember, please switch (with eselect binutils) afterward back to the latest stable binutils version. |

There is also a patch for compile with latest binutils _________________ Questions are guaranteed in life; Answers aren't. |

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately that fix did not work - it gives the same error.

You used patch or binutils workaround? _________________ Questions are guaranteed in life; Answers aren't. |

Sorry for the late reply.
I tried the binutils workaround, I am not sure what you mean by the patch.
I've done revdep-rebuild very recently, and I did it again today then tried the emerge again. |

If work with binutils workaround you can forget patch.
Anyway in the bug there is a patch to apply but since the ebuild is old you should apply manually. _________________ Questions are guaranteed in life; Answers aren't. |

I had the same problem and error message today. The Binutils downgrade slot did not work, editing the ebuild to use the patch did. Definitely related to Bug 654818 |
