I'm having odd issues with X11Forwarding after upgrading from net-misc/openssh-7.5_p1-r4 to net-misc/openssh-7.7_p1-r6, though I can't be sure that's the cause.
What I'm seeing is that X11Forwarding is in fact working...for example I can launch gvim in my ssh sessions. However when I try to use any image display programs...specifically I've tried feh and qiv they hang indefinitely and can only be killed with kill -9. Really screwy. I can't even begin to imagine what to even try in terms of debugging that one. I used ssh -v, but that doesn't tell me anything helpful. The first host I was trying from was using the nVidia drivers, but I have the same issue on another host that's just using x11 intel drivers.
Anyone else run into this or have any ideas?
Thanks

OK...interesting bit of new evidence: Every time I attempt to use those image programs I get this in my Xorg.0.log on the client machine: Code: | [1941630.082] Using O_TMPFILE
[1941798.155] Using O_TMPFILE
[1941843.173] Using O_TMPFILE
[1943078.168] Using O_TMPFILE
[1943264.483] Using O_TMPFILE | I know for a fact that was NOT happening before. As yet than means nothing to me but I bet it's related.

Wow...downgrading openssh did NOT fix this. Now I'm completely lost. This really really sucks. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Got it! The upgrade of media-libs/imlib2-1.4.9 to media-libs/imlib2-1.5.1 was the culprit. Downgrading that fixed this...ffs. Off to see if there are any known bugs.
EDIT: It appears that imlib2-1.5.1 was just recently stabilized. Logged this:
