Maybe we should rename the distro to WilliamHelltoo at this point.

Why are you against discussing a better solution than mediawiki?

his reasoning is asinine

So he want to edit in markdown (which mediawiki does... Wiki markdown) and have a git backend ... So you don't have to edit in a browser. WHAT THE FISH

Holy convolution.

Dokuwiki is actually quite nice, the data is plaintext files which means you could easily use git (there is a git backend plugin) and in theory you could edit the files directly.

Yes, 1) accessibility and 2) manageability without a webinterface.

Why is the thread in an invite-only echo chamber shielded from the actual stakeholders any decision is going to affect? I'm not the one against discussion here, you are.

We should really be discussing a better solution than the gentoo-dev hegemony, because that's a real problem that needs solving. One developer being too lazy to RTFM is not.

Exactly, who benefits the most from the wiki? the community as they enhance it or utilise it to better their system. Who is advocating changing it? a developer who, and I quote don't care that we have a wiki opening a discussion in as you put it, an echo chamber, whether those who have the most use of it cannot comment.

You can't pivot away from the fact that you've been caught making an ass of yourself here.

From one echo chamber to another: No matter how you think about the gentoo-dev whitelist, so far I am not aware that anyone has been denied access to the list, so just join if you want to.

This thread is not making a strong case of opening it up again.

And this would be a misrepresentation of the intent of his mail.

And you are blind, are you, so you know all about the issues involved?

I was one of the people to support the idea when gentoo-dev was not moderated. I think it would increase the number of Wiki editors. Most people who use Gentoo I can't see being averse to editing Markdown.

The main issue that has been raised is that some Mediawiki templates will not work.

Oh dear.
Have you stopped beating your wife yet, asturm?

After so many years, you really should have absorbed that lesson, by now.
And yet here you are, asking loaded questions without even a hint of self-awareness.

Oh dear. This is wrong in several ways.
Most severely, you have shown yourself to be more interested in put-downs, than in true communication.
In doing so, you prove yourself an ass, without needing anyone else to "catch" you out.

What is wrong with speaking to the substantive? If you have no answer, just admit that, instead of acting as though your family were being insulted.

Dear oh dear. There really is no stopping you when you're after your dopamine fix.
You cannot deflect from the substantive point, that gentoo dev is now an echo-chamber, by claiming rather foolishly that the forums are just the same: everyone knows that to be false.
Including you, before you were on a crack-fix.

Good Lord, man, is that the level of your disputation?
One can only infer that your reasoning is grossly distorted by the psychosis you enjoy so much.

LMAO.
You truly believe in the illusory hierarchy.

You really are in line for a rude awakening, once self-insight kicks in.
