I smashed my s8 screen and everyone tells me to insure it and claim after a month. Does it work?

It's a moral victory against the insurance companies, other than that... no

Nice "morality."

If you do plan to commit fraud, it is definitely a good idea to post about it on a public forum first.

I'm sure his mobile phone insurer isn't reading obscure linux forums unless someone shares with them.

One of the potential dangers of letting your name (RL) be connected to that of any user names, with the way that things are advancing - I can see a time when that kind of info could be mined.

"My account was hacked" seems to be good enough for the upper caste.

At first I read the title as:
Quote:
Insulting a phone after breaking it

I don't know about you but I would expect the phone to insult you after such mistreatment rather than the other way round. On top of that, if your phone is capable of insulting you then we all should insult you for breaking such a marvel of engineering. Or maybe it was a Google employee talking to you through the phone.

Not now it won't, because I've sent them your name and a link to this page.

It's not a victory against the insurance company; you're just screwing all the ethical people around you who paid in good faith. Typical.

This generally won't work anyway - in most cases, if you want insurance on the phone the only opportunity to get it as at purchase time or soon (usually 30 days) after, to prevent people from doing exactly this.. Furthermore the insurance is usually quite expensive - usually around $10/mo and there's usually a substantial deductible ($50-200+) too, depending whether just the screen is damaged or the entire phone is inoperative or stolen/lost.

You misunderestimate cokey. He can pull it off.

He'll probably call them from the cell phone to report it missing.

Depends, if he's on about household insurance it's a bit different - normally £50 or so excess (depending on contract phones might be excluded), but I'm guessing that's cheaper than getting a repair ?
