|
|
Hello everybody! I finally got Gentoo up and running, wificard and all, and i'm compiling kde as we speak!
So I heard Gentoo is good for programming (thats why i installed it!), and i wanted to know if i can build lfs on Gentoo!
why Gentoo? Its a unique OS and its fun to use, a beautiful operating system and its very stable, plus, it support all of my drivers.
So can anyone tell me if its possible to build LFS on Gentoo, i'm trying to build my own distro.
If anyone can clear some things up for me that would be nice!

Yes, you can.
Gantoo basically is LFS + package manager.
Stage 3 is a complete toolchain (+ basic userland, but there is no harm in that), so just grab LFS manual and get going. The manual is your primary go-to source of knowledge, if you run into some specific issue, we will be happy to help.
Or just prepare a gentoo image designed with some particular task in mind. The "package manager" part makes a huge difference in the effort it takes, so you will get better results faster. And then you will be able to update it. |
