Greetings,

I've been struggling with various audio issues and simply have not been able to diagnose them.
I've got OBS installed and have added an audio track, and I see that the capture device (ALSA as I do not have pulse installed) is registering feedback.
I've also enabled "capture" in the rear panel for my audio. If I turn this off, then OBS won't show any signal.
When I record, it will only make static, regardless of the volume. There aren't a lot of settings but i've not succeeded yet and am not sure what else to try.

Ardour has a similar issue, but it fails to start the audio interface whatsoever. Is this a permissions issue?
Code:

[ERROR]: AlsaAudioBackend: failed to open device.
[WARNING]: AlsaAudioBackend: adjusted input channel count to match device.
[WARNING]: AlsaAudioBackend: cannot acquire realtime permissions.
[WARNING]: Video-monitor 'xjadeo' was not found. Please install http://xjadeo.sf.net/ (a custom path to xjadeo can be specified by setting the XJREMOTE environment variable. It should point to an application compatible with xjadeo's remote-control interface 'xjremote').

[INFO]: Loading bindings from /etc/ardour5/ardour.keys
Loading menus from /etc/ardour5/ardour.menus

Please let me know if i can provide additional info.

There's quite a number of things that could be the culprit. It might be easier for you to install Gentoo Studio than to try to figure this out. Gentoo Studio is designed to work OOTB with ALSA and JACK.
