boot a system rescue cd or system rescue usb in EFI mode (mode should be selectable in the UEFI software (usually entered by clicking F2 or delete during boot). While in the UEFI disable secure boot (Setting may be disguised as "Other OS"). The cd or usb to choose should be annotated as UEFI if it is in the boot menu twice. I listed the code that worked for me, for a clean VBox & Real HW install (YMMV)
A week ago, I installed Gentoo EFI, on a new Intel NUC, SSD disk.

(almost without any issues)

Gentoo is not an easy Linux installation, take your time reading, watching Youtube video's about installing it
It took me about 4 hours, to get the Wifi working on the bootcd & the real installation. :oops:

I also struggled with a clock drift issue, but I managed to get the package installations working after reading the logs and deducing the problem and correcting it.

Read, learn, make mistakes and repeat all over

(also read the forums, the handbook at least TWICE)

Use emerge --info and paste the results, use wgetpaste

What worked for me, was searching for the solution, requesting help and NOTE down the solution (using pencil & paper), so that you can fall back in the future on what you have learned!
It took me about a year to find the courage to finally install Gentoo on physical HW (after I got enough trust) to do this.
I am not afraid to say that I don't fully master Gentoo yet,

Gentoo install media without support for efivars isn't a showstopper... It does use GRUB, so just use GRUB to boot the kernel you just installed, and use that to setup whatever you need to do. One extra step is faster than downloading and writing a different "installer" and starting over...
