LiveCD: wifi connects to router, but no connection

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to install Gentoo, but I'm already failing on the LiveCD-stage (minimal iso).

I'm running net-setup wlp3s0, entering the SSID and WPA2-PSK. Afterwards iw dev wlp3s0 link or ipconfig show that I'm connected to my router. route shows the correct gateway address, resolv.conf shows the router's IP (192.168.2.1) for nameserver.

But trying to ping anything fails. Even trying to ping my router/gateway 192.168.2.1 fails with 100% packet loss.

Now the odd thing is: It worked before. Before I had to abort the installation it worked. It took a few tries until gentoo.org was resolved, but then I could download stage3 tarball. Now I had to reboot and I cannot get it to work again.

Does anyone have some pointers where to look/what to do?

The Gentoo minimal CD has minimal support for wifi.
If you need to install over wifi, boot with System Rescue CD.
Its gentoo based and allow you to follow the handbook with no extra steps.

bheinze, if you want to continue, or if you encounter similar problems with the System Rescue CD, please provide the following:

• Full output of ifconfig -a ; route -n ; ip addr (the latter comes from sys-apps/iproute2; if you don't have it, we can try to work with just ifconfig -a)
• Full output of the failed ping. We need to see any error messages it shows.
• Any dmesg output relating to networking. If you are unsure, save the whole output to a file, then place it in a pastebin when you reboot to whatever system is providing working networking for you.

Also, from a working system, check that your router answers ping. If it does not, then your Gentoo environment might have working local connectivity and only lack Internet access.
