| Tell Funtoo to update their ancient version of exiv2 that is riddled with security holes. After all they can pick it for free from Gentoo. |

Aha. That's what I get for a) posting before morning coffee and b) having too many different systems at hand... this was indeed a Funtoo system, not Gentoo.

funtoo or not, you'll want to talk to whomever maintains the media-kit overlay, or you can install the ones in portage.
