Dmesg displays this error message:
Code: | [drm:intel_enable_lvds [i915]] *ERROR* timed out waiting for panel to power on |
This post suggests applying a patch:
Quote: | Toshiba Satellite Z930 laptops needs between 1 and 2 seconds to power
on its screen during Intel i915 DRM initialization. This currently
results in a `[drm:intel_enable_lvds] *ERROR* timed out waiting for
panel to power on` message appearing in the kernel log during boot
time and when stopping the machine. |
Nevertheless, as I understand it, is a harmless warning and there is no need to apply the patch. Am I right? Thanks!

I'd say, if it works, it works...
Except that it may someday end up with a race condition, though at least for now I can't think of how it could result in an unwinnable race. You're probably good to go if the machine is usable and pick up the patch when it's convenient (next update cycle when you no longer need to manually patch). _________________ Intel Core i7 2700K/Radeon R7 250/24GB DDR3/256GB SSD
