|
|
I have a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 that I use on a Gentoo laptop. (It works very well with Ardour and JACK.) But sometimes I just want to put sound out of the laptop's own speakers.
If I simply unplug the 2i2, alsamixer then complains
Code: |
cannot open mixer: No such file or directory
|
If I plug the 2i2 back in, alsamixer can see the internal sound card, but its not the default and so no sound comes out the laptop's speakers. If I restart the computer without plugging the 2i2 back in, it defaults back to the internal intel-hda sound card. But I'd like to not have to reboot just to use the internal sound card.
So how should I handle that? _________________ decibel Linux: https://decibellinux.org

Never tried that myself, but you could try alter your user ~/.asoundrc switching default output in there (like having 2 copy of .asound one making card1 default, and second making card2 default) ; and an sh script run on usb unplug could copy the needed one.
Of course it would then only change default card for that user, still it should cover most of your needs (if this work). |
