Hi all, I am a beginner in gentoo, I need you support:
My gentoo version is 4.4.39, and when I tried to execute the command : emerge --ask --changed-use --deep @world, I got the following message:
Code: | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
setlocale: unsupported locale setting
!!! Section 'x-portage' in repos.conf has location attribute set to nonexistent directory: '/usr/portage'
!!! Section 'gentoo' in repos.conf has location attribute set to nonexistent directory: '/usr/portage'
!!! Invalid Repository Location (not a dir): '/usr/portage'
setlocale: unsupported locale setting
!!! /etc/portage/make.profile is not a symlink and will probably prevent most merges.
!!! It should point into a profile within /usr/portage/profiles/
!!! (You can safely ignore this message when syncing. It's harmless.)
!!! Your current profile is invalid. If you have just changed your profile
!!! configuration, you should revert back to the previous configuration.
!!! Allowed actions are limited to --help, --info, --search, --sync, and
!!! --version.

How can I execute "emerge --ask --changed-use --deep @world" completely ?
appreciate your any suggestion.

yhlin00001,
Welcome to Gentoo.
First, gentoo is a rolling release, it does not have versions. Your 4.4.39 'version' is probably the linux kernel.
Code: | ... nonexistent directory: '/usr/portage' | Implies that you don't have a portage snapshot yet, or if you do, its not in the default location. _________________ Regards,

Hi yhlin00001,
So, did you get it fixed? Do you still need support? |
