Hello,
Having problem with chromium that gives "aw snap" on every (even welcome screen) page.
Tryed to | Code: | | emerge -eav1 chromium |
No luck.
Running from console gives:

Note: I am runinng gentoo no-multilib hardened with clang 6.0.0 as main conpiler. Also I am using sys-libs/llvm-libunwind instead of sys-libs/libunwind and libc++ as default STL.

| Signal 6 is illegal instruction, which means the compiled binary contains something your CPU doesn't understand. It might help to specify -march in c*flags, or use less extreme optimisation. |

You don't pass -march=, so I wonder what CPU your code is built for?
The chromium ebuild forces clang anyway but its known not to work with everything.
-O3 is scary on Intel/AMD 64 as it changes floating point results sometimes.
It does other unsafe optimisations too.
-O3 makes uses optimisations that make the code bigger to try to get a speed improvement.
That's OK if you know that the working set still fits in the CPU cache.
When it doesn't you end up with more cache misses and an overall slowdown, waiting for the much slower main memory.
You might find that -O2 is actually faster.

got it. I have added to CFLAGS. Strange, but gives me less optimization flags in clang than -march=native (though more specifying IMO)

I've got my mistake with -march, fixed. Now rebuilding entire world.

Just finished rebuilding chromium and all it's dependencies with -march=native.
Did not help 
I've found this in dmesg:

ADD:
glibc is compiled with gcc as I was not able to patch it to support clang compiling
chromium is built with clang.

Looks like you are right. At least here I can see that clang is forced.
So it is not problem with clang/gcc.
Any other ideas? I can not find anymore, but some time ago I've found post on forum teling that chrmium has some problems with Hardened Gentoo |

So...
I have removed clang as default compiler (and rebuilt world)
I have switched from llvm-unwind back to libunwind (rebuilt world)
I have switched from libc++ back to libstdc++ (rebuilt world)
I have switched from profile "default/linux/amd64/17.1/no-multilib/hardened" to "default/linux/amd64/17.1/no-multilib"
And yes, it still does not work.
Only thing changed is error in logs:

I've googled it a little bit and looks like it is some issue with sandbox running on no-multilib platforms ( here is some bug report)

Really, I don't know why I need chromium that much. While it was not working I was using qupzilla and it ws fine. Maybe some kind of challenge "will you fucking work on me?" |
