Well that is pretty discouraging. Tifig depends on libvips, which used to be in the tree, but disappeared about five years ago.
I would rather be able to VIEW them then have to CONVERT them (especially using a cloud service).
Kind of surprised that not of the open source linux graphics programs have picked this up yet, especially since the format is open source. I suspect (and hope) that we will see some takeup in the next year or two.
Seems like the best option is to use xnviewmp (a great progam, but unfortunately not open source) - available from https://www.xnview.com/en/xnviewmp/ (plugin to support .heic files required).
There is a bug that requests adding it to the portage tree at https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=230805 |
