|
|
I am unable to "emerge --ask x11-libs/motif" because deep within its build, ./wmluiltok complains: "Symbol `exit' causes overflow in R_X86_64_PC32 relocation", and ./wmluiltok then fails with a segmentation fault.
I have placed the build log for "emerge --ask x11-libs/motif" at: http://thepythoniccow.us/failed_gentoo_motif_wmluiltok_build.log
I have placed the output of "emerge --info" at http://thepythoniccow.us/failed_gentoo_motif_wmluiltok_emerge--info
The output of emerge -pqv '=x11-libs/motif-2.3.8-r1::gentoo' is:
| Code: | | [ebuild U ] x11-libs/motif-2.3.8-r1 [2.3.7] USE="jpeg motif22-compatibility png unicode -examples -static-libs -xft" ABI_X86="(64) -32 (-x32)" |
The following lines in the build log, which issue a warning message mentioning "exit" while building wmluiltok, might also be relevant:
| Code: | libtool: link: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -march=native -O2 -pipe -fPIC -fno-strict-aliasing -Wall -fno-strict-aliasing -Wno-unused -Wno-comment -Wl,-O1 -o wmluiltok wmluiltok.o -Wl,--as-needed -lfl
/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/6.4.0/../../../../x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld: /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/6.4.0/../../../../lib64/libfl.a(libmain.o): warning: relocation against `exit@@GLIBC_2.2.5' in readonly section `.text.startup'
/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/6.4.0/../../../../x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld: warning: creating a DT_TEXTREL in a shared object |

Dang - that was easy - thanks!
I did "emerge --ask sys-devel/flex", and then my motif built fine. |

Just came across the same issue and recompile of sys-devel/flex solved it.
I wonder how one finds out about solutions for such issues?
I recon recompiling dependencies from 'equery g <package>' sugests suspects but then?
Anyways, thanks for a quick fix |

Same problem, same fix.
Can anybody shed light on how to debug it?
Thanks |
