dann bin ich mir nicht sicher, ob ich das wirklich installieren sollte? Wenn xorg-proto-2018.4 mit all den Komponenten inkompatibel ist, was passiert denn letztendlich? Wir portage die Pakete überspringen? Ich habe mich erstmal zurücgehalten.

Die Xorg- und die Gentoo-Entwickler haben die vielen Xorg Header-Dateien in ein Paket zusammengefasst. Das ist sehr willkommen, zumal das neue Paket auch gleich mit Meson installiert wird (=rasend schnell).

Der Wechsel erfolgt in zwei Schritten:
  1. Das neue Paket "x11-base/xorg-proto" wird installiert. Es enthält die Header-Dateien. Für die bisherigen Header-Dateien (z.B. x11-proto/scrnsaverproto) werden Dummies installiert.
  2. In den nächsten Wochen werden Abhängigkeiten in anderen Paketen, die noch die alten Header-Pakete hereinziehen, auf x11-base/xorg-proto umgestellt. Dadurch verschwinden die alten Header-Pakete nach und nach bei "emerge --depclean".
Bei mir hat der Wechsel zu "x11-base/xorg-proto" auf Anhieb funktioniert. Wenn ich eine Ausgabe wie oben bekommen würde, würde ich vermutlich zuerst einmal alle Nicht-Xorg-Header-Pakete updaten (also mailx, pax-utils, sandbox, tiff, bluez, ncurses, gd, python und slang). Dann sollte auch der Wechsel der Xorg Header-Pakete mit "emerge --update --deep --newuse @world" funktionieren. Wenn es es dann immer noch nicht gehen sollte: alle Pakete, die als "b" angezeigt werden, löschen - und hinterher ein "emerge --update --deep --newuse @world".

Große "B" sind hard blocker und müssen händisch gelöst werden, kleine "b" sind soft blocker, die löst portage selber. Also einfach update laufen lassen und fertig, denn bei dir seh ich nur kleine b.
