Since it will soon be removed from Portage, is there any other package that will do the same thing? I had a friend from China,
who had a disk that I was able to save with vcdgear.

What exactly you need? Rip, convert,...?
Some packages that can used for video encoding and ripping
Code: | media-video/ffmpeg
media-video/handbrake
media-video/vcdimager |

I do have Handbrake and it works nicely. A friend recently raved about ffmpeg so I'll have to look at that,
but in my case I had a DVD that was damaged.
In the case I mentioned I met a taijiquan teacher. He had a disk, that he wanted me to copy, but it would not copy
due to damage. I was rather perplexed until discovering VCDGEAR, which allowed me to fix and then create a
new disk. As the disk was from China he allowed me to copy it for his students.
Your suggestion of media-video/vcdimager sounds like a possible replacement for VCDGEAR. I'll look into it.
Thank you! _________________ ASPushkin
