Hi,
the Problem is that I can't decide which notebook to pick and because I definitely set it up wit gentoo I thought maybe someone has experience with one of the two models I would like to get. The two notebooks are:
- ThinkPad L380 (Intel Core i5-8250U Prozessor (6 MB Cache, 1,6 GHz))
- Asus VivoBook S14 (Intel Core i5-8250U (1,6 GHz - 3,4 GHz), 6 MB Cache)

Has anyone any experience with one of these? Any help is highly appreciated!!

No experience with these exact models, but I have so far put Gentoo on two Lenovo desktops and am working on a Gentoo install on a Lenovo laptop. No issues with the dekstops, trying to figure out some boot/EFI/video driver issues with the laptop, but I don't expect to run into any walls with it.

I have never had any serious blockers with any latop I've ever put Gentoo on. You may need to hunt down the correct driver if manually compiling your kernel, or you may need to enable specific kernel opts if using genkernel, but I would guess that you would be fine with either of your laptop choices.

You should check out the hardware specs and make sure there is Linux support for the WiFi, webcam, etc., but chances are those components will be well-supported.

I would myself more do like audiodef, checking parts that are known to be problematic: wifi, touchpad and webcam support, because for m/b, ram, cpu... no linux would had any trouble really with that.
